Twenty-Fifth Day

Daily Reading
Matthew 7:16-20

In the morning

Our Father, who art in heaven, thank you for this blessed morning. As we go out this morning to the world and our work, we ask Thee to bless all classes and conditions of men and women every where. Bless those who are servants, and help them to serve with diligence, and bless those who are masters and help them to direct and to control with justice and with mercy. Bless those who are rich, and help them to remember that they must hold all their possessions in stewardship for Thee, and bless those who are poor and grant that they may find others kind. Bless those who are strong and fit, and grant that they may never use their good health selfishly, and bless those who are weak and ailing , and keep them from all discouragement and discontent. Bless those who are happy, and help them not to forget Thee in the sunny weather, and bless those who are sad, and ease the pain and comfort the loneliness of their hearts. Bless the animals who are the friends and the servants of men, and grant that none may treat them with cruelty, but that all may be kind to them. Bless each one of us, and grant that we may go out to live as those who have been with Jesus. This we ask for Thy love's sake. AMEN

In the evening

O God, our Father, who art plenteous in mercy, forgive us for all the wrong things which have spoiled today. Forgive us for any moment when the voice of conscience spoke to us, and we heard it, but went our own way. Forgive us for any moment when forgot Thee; when we were so immersed in the affairs and the pleasures of this world that we had no thought to spare for Thee. Forgive us any moment when we grieved Thee; for any word or action or conduct which mad men think less of the name we bear. Forgive us if today we have neglected duty, failed in witness, wavered in faith, fallen away from love. When we think of our own failure we thank Thee most of all for Jesus Christ, who gave His life a ransom for many, and who is the Lamb of God who take away the sin of the world, and our sin. Grant that before we sleep we may find in Him Thy' pardon and Thy peace. This we ask for Thy love's sake. AMEN
